BRIDGE CHARTER ACADEMY

There are so many things I love about BCA. What first drew me to the school was the level of collaboration. I still remember walking past a group of BCA staff deep in conversation, wrestling with a problem, and genuinely trying to figure out a better way forward. I remember thinking, this is a place I want to be part of someday.

 

I have been connected to BCA since my time as a board member in 2016, and the growth since then has been remarkable. The early years were full of learning on the fly. We didn’t always know what we were doing, and we faced each new challenge as it came. There were plenty of mistakes along the way... including one year when shipping issues meant students didn’t receive their curriculum until October! Those moments were stressful, but they shaped who we are.

 

Over time, BCA moved from being an infant school, through some awkward teenage years, and into a much more mature and stable organization. Early on, the program changed frequently and communication was often a challenge.

 

Today, we have clearer systems, stronger communication, and a shared understanding of who we are and what we're trying to build.

 

The theme Taking the Scenic Route fits BCA well. Our journey hasn’t been fast or easy, but it has been meaningful. Each stage came with its own challenges and its own rewards. While there are moments when I feel nostalgic for the chaotic, wild-west days, I know the growth we've experienced has made us stronger and better for our students and families.

 

Looking back, the scenic route was worth it. We've embraced the twists and turns along the way and have never settled for the quickest or easiest path. Instead, we've stayed focused on our destination and continue moving toward our vision of inspiring curiosity and a love of wisdom in every student... while practicing our own curiosity and love of learning along the way.
